Website Accessibility Training

W 3 A provides a range of training courses on website accessibility.

Who should attend

Our courses are geared towards IT professionals who design, build and maintain websites, extranets and intranets.

The courses do not aim to teach website design and programming so it is expected that attendees are already familiar with HTML, XHTML and CSS coding.

What the courses cover

We offer three separate one-day courses. Each course covers one priority level as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Format

The courses offered are based around workshops and offer practical, hands-on training in developing websites that comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

At the end of each course delegates should be able to design websites that comply with the checkpoints of the relevant priority level of the WCAG.

Course Material

All course material is provided, including a copy of the guidelines, all slides and workshop notes.

Course Sizes

Due to the technical nature of the workshops we limit each course to 15 delegates.

Priority 1 Course

This course covers the basics of website accessibility. It allows delegates to gain an understanding of what accessibility means and why it is important in web design.

It also looks at all the priority 1 checkpoints listed in the WCAG and shows delegates how to design and build websites, extranets and intranets that comply to this standard.

Priority 2 Course

This course builds on the knowledge gained on the priority 1 course and looks at accessibility in more detail. It looks at all the priority 2 checkpoints listed in the WCAG and teaches delegates how to design and build websites, extranets and intranets that comply to priority 2 of the WCAG. This course introduces the concept of CSS and as such is only suitable for people with a reasonable understanding of HTML coding.

Priority 3 Course

This is the highest level of accessibility training we offer and it is only suitable for people with an in-depth understanding of CSS and HTML coding. This course focuses on all the priority 3 checkpoints listed in the WCAG and teaches delegates how to design and build websites, extranets and intranets that meet all the requirements of the WCAG.
